sitting room in
rowhedge
the
brief for the sitting room was to create a scheme that had a strong
personality rather than one conforming to conservative trends in interiors.
leather sofas and neutral walls were a definate no-no. instead the client
wanted an eclectic room that reflected her interest in collecting unusual
and antique pieces of art and furniture from all over the world.
at
the same time, functionality was a high priority and with a dog and
young grandchildren , the client wanted a scheme that would wear well
and still be comfortable and cosy.
the
resulting room consisted of a neutral washable background brought to
life with contrasting accessories in jewel bright colours and varying
patterns and textures. rather than giving the appearance of a room which
had just been 'designed', the room instead had the feeling of something
that had evolved over a period of time and would continue to evolve
as the client found new pieces of art and items to display.
